La Paradoja del Power una nueva perspectiva sobre el liderazgo Spanish Edition Pat Williams 9789875570993 Books Reviews
- Pat Williams makes it clear from the get go that he believes that his Christian faith is the backbone of his effectiveness as a leader. Throughout the book he does a wonderful job of connecting the paradoxical nature of the Christian faith with the paradoxical nature of successful leadership. There is a lot of good here than you can apply to the leadership role each of us plays in our everyday life, whether as parent, teacher, coach, entrepreneur, executive, worker, student, etc. The one downside of the book, comes in its over-referencing to leadeship "success" stories of political and business leaders; obviously the target market for this book is the want-to-be business and political leader. I hate to paint with too wide a brush, but for the most part, the portrayed "success" of many of the political and business leaders he references follows the command and control Caesar / Alexander / Napoleon models he writes against, and consequently is due to their accumulation of power from others and their use of that accumulated power. This differs vastly from the paradoxical model of Jesus Christ, whose leadership success rests on the dispersal of power to others, on teaching others how to use their power wisely, and on the great restraint he exercised in the use of the power that he had. No sense in throwing out the baby with the bath water, as aside from the blatant contradiction of these examples to the real meaning in this book, there is much here of great value. I especially enjoyed the view of Jesus Christ from the perspective of his being a man of tremendous leadership capability, rather than from the usual sacred Son of God religious perspective. Without the blatant pandering to target market, this book would be a 5-star read.
- Leaders have vision--they see beyond today and tomorrow. In order for that vision to come to fruition, a leader must share their vision--they have to have it out in the open, they must share, talk, communicate their vision. In this book the author has done an excellent job in the stories he shares, the examples he gives and the benefits of looking beyond today and the benefits of sharing a vision with others. Leadership is a role we all can take on daily, but communicating a vision through leadership is what we all strive to do.This book is an excellent read, by an excellent author and leader. He did his home work on this book and it shows.
- Pat Williams is a great author and leader himself. Each book that he writes helps one build on the great principles of life and success. Paradox of power teaches us about the paradox's of life and how they lead us to success. Simple but hard to apply principles, but if we take heed to them, we can plan on a successful productive life.
- Very good book
- The Paradox of Power has actually transformed the ideas about a leader. Pat has mentioned of seven paradoxes, most important of which are certainly absolute love for your followers as Jesus had for his twelve non-schooled disciples, a vision and preparedness to 'accept inaction as the best form of action' and 'silence as the most powerful speech' at the appropriate time. His examples selected from the life of John F. Kennedy (talking to a mines worker), Robert Lee make his musings on desirable traits of a true leader as given in the book, more acceptable and laudable,
