"This book is perfect to get my video game loving 5 yr old wanting to read!

My son is starting to learn how to read. Other than TMNT books he doesn't really want to bother with books. So I searched for video games. Much to my surprise they had this book!

There are some bigger words in this book. Such as different, healthy, sunflowers, mushrooms, protect, themselves, buckets, newspapers, examples, because, machine, mummies, explorers, twiddydinkies, remember, along with a few more.

Hopefully this helps with your decision if the book is good for your child."

  • This book is perfect to get my video game loving 5 yr old wanting to read!

  • Such a cute book. My son is just learning to read and has a great time reading these books! There are some words that he stumbles on, but other than that, has not issues. He has been playing PVZ for a few months now on his iPod and he thinks its just great that there are stories behind the 'characters' now. He has actually been making up his own stories now that he has read a few of these because he thinks that they should ALL have stories. It's cute, but they have sparked his imagination and it puts his nose in a book instead of a game. Win, win.
  • I purchased this new with free next day delivery for my 4 yr. Old son. It arrived on time as expected, brand new and for only $3.49! Seeing as I often find myself competing with an XBox for his attention, I am thrilled that he's asked me to repeatedly read it with him just since its arrival yesterday. I've now purchased two additional P vs Z books and eagerly wait their arrival. I've tried everything from ABC mouse to Little Golden Books and this is the first time he's asked me to read with him! Looking for other books to keep the momentum going and move him on to level 3 reading. I now see that looking for books that correlate to the video games he's currently playing (ie mindcraft, Roblox and Disney infinity star wars battlefront) is finally engaging him in reading. Preschool begins this month and I finally feel empowered to help him read and excel! A+
  • I wanted to give this book 5 stars, but it wasn't what I was expecting. It's more of a game guide than a story. It basically tells you about the plants and types of zombies. My 5 year old was slightly disappointed and said, "Is that it?"

That being said, the book is colorful and does showcase a lot of the characters. He didn't care about the story but he loved trying to draw the characters from the book.
  • My son loves this book. He is six years old, and this is the first chapter book he has read to himself without anyone requesting he read it. Some of the words are probably too hard for him, but he sounded them out. Nothing like self-motivation to encourage an early-reader, and this book provided him with lots, since he loves Plants vs Zombies but isn't allowed to play video games much.
  • I want to love this book, it's perfect for readers that are almost independent but still need a little help, and it keeps them engaged as its fun to read and not babyish...with that being said the book print is awful, some of the words just rub right off, and the colors bleed together. I wish they would improve the quality of their books, as we purchased a few other in the "I Can Read" series and I notice this on them also.
  • If you have a child between 3 and 9 you have heard of Plant's vs Zombies a least once, with the video games, shirts, bedding, back packs, wall hangings and of course toys its hard not to find something for your little fan. I love books, and being able to give my child a book that is easy to read and attention grabbing makes the most fun for early learning.
  • I bought it used, so it's ok. It had more stickers/labels on the front than I anticipated. It also had a lot of taping throughout. Thought taped on the outside, it had a big gap between pages on the inside, so I had to tape it. But it works!
The book itself is good. Nice big letters for my 5y.o. Simple text he can read on his own. So it works well
